Maumbury Rings
There are
three main stages of use of the monument. It was originally a late
Neolithic henge (c.2500BC), converted into an Amphitheatre in the
1st century AD by the Romans, then Parliament supporters
remodelled the earthwork in 1642-3 during the Civil War.
