Sir Henry Edwards Statue
Esplanade
The statue is at the northern point
of the Alexandra
Gardens. In the 19th century Weymouth was represented in Parliament by Sir
Henry Edward who gifted to the town homes for the elderly and also provided
an annual dinner for the old people of the town. The statue was erected in 1885
in his honour.
The other statues on the Esplanade are dedicated to King George III and Queen Victoria.
The homes he gifted to the town are still in
use at
Edwards Avenue and Rodwell Avenue
