Lorton Meadows
Weymouth
Situated in a quiet valley running between Upwey and Littlemoor the meadows has distant views of Weymouth Bay and the Isle of Portland. Approximately half the reserve is scheduled as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Dorset Wildlife Trust took over the site in 1998 and introduced a management regime of scrub control and grazing to ensure that a wide diversity of plant and animal life was able to thrive on this attractive reserve, set against an urban backdrop.¹
