Ferrybridge
Wyke Regis
The southernmost part of
Wyke Regis is
known as Ferrybridge. The only road to
Portland crosses
the harbour
here and follows Chesil Beach for two miles intil it gets to
Chiswell on Portland. Before there was a bridge (the first in 1839),
people had to traverse the water by a ferry, including at one time the King
of England.
